White spots appearing on Boston Terrier

I have a Boston (Chloe) that is about 3 years old. She is very healthy and we have never had any health problems. A few weeks ago she developed a white spot on her back. Its like the hair turned white. Now there are about ten spots. The hair is not coming out, and it doesnt seem to distress her in any way. No itching no swelling nothing. Now she has some redness and dryness around her mug and around her eyes that looks like psoriases or allergy, but still it does not seem to bother her. We haven't done anything different, and the vet can't find anything wrong. Have any of you had any experiance with this? The white spots literally looks like bleach has been dripped on her, but I know this hasn't happened. Bizarro.

I see white spots too!
by: Marian

I too have a BT that is developing tiny white spots. Ziggy is 4 months old and is developing white hair spots, mostly on her legs and one on her ear and flank. They ar flat and seem completely painless. She is fiesty and full of life and is perfectly healthy. My theory is that they are almost like small scars from playing with other dogs. Has anyone else heard of this happening?

Seeing Spots
by: Mary

I have never heard of this...white spots appearing.

I HAVE seen black spots develop on the white markings; especially on the belly. That usually happens in a young dog (6 mos) as it grows older.

There is a vitamin deficiency that is known to cause gray hair...it is a lack of Vitamin B12 or Selenium.

Keep a journal of everything that you notice on your pup: how he eats, sleeps, eliminates, plays, EVERYTHING. Then take it to the vet when you feel you need to. It sounds gross but maybe you should take his temperature too, maybe every other day and keep a log of that. I forget if you said you had a male or female but also have the vet check out their "hormones" and see if those are normal. Do this several times over certain periods and see if anything looks different.

If everything is fine and your pup just has white spots, then it may be ok. But keep a special eye out for him all the time.

Good luck and let us know what you find out!!!
