What is my boston terrier mixed with?

Our boston, Doug, has every perfect marking and personality trait of a true boston. However, his body and legs are long and lean. He is extremely fast and athletic. He weighs 34 lbs, but is only 2 yrs old, and probably could add 5 more lbs as he gets old and fat. These are not true boston traits. We have considered whippet mix or maybe boxer? Who knows...any suggestions?

I think maybe a boxer is in the mix?

Beautiful coloring! I could see that the coloring probably led you to think Whippet, but I don't think that he would weigh more than a normal Boston in that case, because Whippets are uber thin & delicate. I definitely think that he's got some Boxer in him, with the long legs & being 34 lbs. His face is very boxy, and if he were part Whippet it would be pointier, I suppose. Either way, he is a great looking dog and a beautiful Boston mix. :) Also, I love the scattered fuzz around him, looks like he is exhausted from destroying something!

mixed

I think you might be on target with boxer because of his brindled markings; I have had two brindle BTs, and the brindling was not nearly this pronounced, as it would be in a boxer. No matter what, you've got a great dog!

Boglen Terrier

I think your little one is a Boston Terrier and Beagle mix. The long, lean legs are those of the Beagle. Our little one also has the stand up ears of the Boston but also the long tail of the beagle. The longer snout is also that of the beagle. Also known as a "Boggle". Mine has the same markings except she has the white and Brown Brindle instead of the black and white.

DNA Test
by: Lynn M

You can now purchase a DNA test - super easy. You just have you vet draw the blood and send off - they are very quick to reply back and very accurate - as long as the breeds in your dog are in their database. Do a Google search for DNA Tests for Canines.
