What Age is a Boston Terrier Full Grown?

by Charlotte

We have a purebred Boston Terrier who is 7 1/2 months old and weighs 16 lbs. She was 6 lbs at 9 weeks when we got her. At what age is a Boston normally at its full weight and size? We are trying to determine how much she will weigh when full grown and whether she is overweight now for her age.

I have a full grown bt named spanky. He is 37 pounds mostly muscle. I guess they come in different sizes bc I have a brindle female as well who is 6 months and is right at 10lbs. She is petite but way smarter at this age than the male was. She loves to snuggle and watch tv.

Maturity

By the end of the first year, your dog will most likely be at his or her physical maturity (height/length) but will continue to "fill out" and gain some weight. That's been my experience. Mental maturity... well, that's another thing altogether!

Boston Sizes

Bostons generally become full grown at 9 to 12 months. 16 pounds does not sound overweight but only a vet can tell you. He needs to see the pup and he can tell right away. We have a Boston that is 4 yrs old and 17 pounds. We also have a 3 year old that is 25 pounds. They do come in different sizes but by the time your pup is a year old he should stop growing. I think at the puppy stage it is more important that your puppy does not over-eat. You can feed them 2 or 3 times a day but limit the amount of time you allow him to eat. It should be about 15 minutes each time. Then you just take the bowl away and wait until next feeding time.
