This is our breeder's first litter, and he says they will be ready at 8 wks, but I am seeing a range from 7-12 wks recommended in different places. What age was your puppy, and how did it go?
My BT is the runt I just got her the other pups a batch of 6 were pushing her out. I have been bottle feeding her with store bought formula she is taking it well and seems healthier than she was but do you think that it will make it harder for me to leave her for any length of time as she gets older? ALSO can they be lactose intolerant?

age of coming home by: Anonymous
Our puppy came from someone that was unaware of the breed. (boston terrier/beagle) He can be very hyper but they got him from the breeder at 6 weeks. I believe that this is to young. His is very needy and hates to be alone. And he is about 14 weeks now

age to come home by: Linda Galway/TurnerME
Our first puppy was about 9-10 weeks because we had a vacation scheduled and picked him up after we got back. It was perfect; he wasn't afraid of new things. Our second pup came home at 7-1/2 weeks because his breeder had to leave. How much of this is his basic personality, I don't know, but he was a little more timid of new things and noises. Whereas my first BT learned to ring a sleigh bell when he wanted to go out, this one was afraid of it. Our third girl came to us as an adult and was a rescue... that's a whole different story, but in all it has worked out OK. I would prefer your getting the pup at least 8 weeks or maybe up to 10 weeks if it works out with your schedule, but any time after 8 should be OK. In our state, it is a law that pups cannot be sold before 8 weeks of age.
