Tux is hilarious. He loves to suck the pointy ends of stuffed toys. He'll suck the nose and squeeze the body as if he's a cat! Adorable.

hi my name is shanna an i have a minature boston terrier an she sucks on her stuffed animals till she falls asleep her mother died when she was only 2 days old an i was wondering if that has something do do with her sucking on her stuffed aniamls. it is very funny an she is so cute when she does it but is all the hair from the stuffed animals harmful to her.

My neighbor's F 1 Boston Rat Terrier mix, Spike, is barely a year old if that, and he has a favorite stuffed toy, a small yellow terry cloth duck on which he sucks and kneads. He loves all his other toys (that is for as long as they last, which isn't long, coz he pretty much routinely destroys them) but especially prefers and babies that duck.
I always wrote his behaviour off as being possibly stress related, but looks like a behaviour that's inherent to the breed possibly. Interesting.

Our BT Leroy has a stuffed fire hydrant that he carries around everywhere. When we sit and watch TV he lays on the couch, puts it in his mouth, and kneads it w/ his paws. It's kinda crazy and whenever he does it it puts him right to sleep. Glad to see other ones do this, it just must be the breed's thing.

My Dottie does the same thing! She was mailed a stuffed toy from the breeder that had been in with her mother and siblings. We washed it a bunch of times and threw it away. She then got another stuffed toy and started on it. We went to obedience classes and the trainer told us to throw it away but we didn't. She has to go get it before nap or bed time and take it to bed. She sucks and pushes on it with her "hands". I thought mine was the only Boston who did that until I read this!

It's so funny. It's like she's nursing from her mom on her stuffed animals. She needs it with her pays and sucks on them when she's tired and falls asleep like that EVERY day!! I thought maybe it was cuz we might have gotten her too young? I dunno, but it's so precious!!!

 My Boy Boston Does This Too

Buck sucks on the toy that came home with him when he was a puppy. He is very gentle with it. He lets out soft cries and rocks back and forth while "nursing." It seems to calm him down after a long day and is his favorite activity before bed.

I've washed Tux's stuffed toys and he doesn't seem to notice! He still sucks on them and falls asleep with them in his mouth.

 Sucking On Toy

How strange...my Howie does the same thing and he is a year and a half old. We thought he was the only one in the world that did that. He will not go to sleep at night unless he sucks on the end of his stuffed bone which is nearly as old as he is and looks filthy. My wife wanted to wash it, but I told her not to. I think it is his "security" blanket.
