We got our Boston puppy at Thanksgiving. We began letting him walk around loose right after Christmas. It was then that we began training him to ring a sleigh bell hanging on the back door if he needed to go outside. We would bump his nose against it and then take him outside. We would then do a quick praise. (We did the same training with our now 14 year old pug when he was a puppy.) By the third day, he rang the bell himself. He has no accidents and rings the bell anytime he wants to go out! He's five months old now.
