Teddy
by Jim Sinclair
(Muskoka, Canada)
We got him from the local pound to keep an elderly aunt of ours company.
Wrong! He was a bully and peed and pooped in one corner of her living room. Sleeping, he slept on her spare bed, literally buried himself in a comforter.
We took him to live with us when our aunt had to go to a nursing home. We trained him to at least be sociable, but that was it! He is frisky, runs away if he gets out of the house without a leash. Always comes home, when he's good and ready. Does not respond to calls. Loves to play with tug toys, a good lap dog, he snuggles in the tightest places beside us in a chair. Tears around the house like a mad dervish when he's happy to see you. Still pees the odd time indoors. Only barks when theirs something to bark at, the doorbell or something outside the window.
