We adopted Sparky about a month ago at 13 weeks of age. We found him on Craigslist while I was browsing for a Boston to adopt. His previous owners called him Raider (which totally did not fit him) and said they were giving him up because their 1 year old was scared of him, but did fine with their older, larger dog. Anyway, he got the name Sparky the day after we brought him home when my 5 year old, Sofia, woke up and said she had a dream that we called him that. And it is a perfect match for his energetic personality! And even though we were looking to adopt a dog more for Sofia, there is a very strong bond between Sparky and my 1 year old, Kendra (so much for him scaring 1 year olds, right). Anyway, he is 100% puppy, bouncing around and wanting to play all the time. But he is very eager to please, and has learned new commands in just a few days of working with him. For the most part, he does very well with his commands, except that we have to hold him or have him leashed when we open the door to take him out (he jets out the door and runs like the wind). He hasn't quite learned how to let us know he needs to go out, so we have to watch for clues. But when he does have an "accident", it's almost always right in front of the door on the linoleum (but not on the paper), so it's an easy clean-up. A lot of people have asked if he's part Pit, so I explain that Bostons were bred down from Pits, so in a sense, yes he is. He's not a small BoChi, that's for sure. Even though he hasn't grown much in the month since we brought him home, he's almost the size of a large adult Boston and has big front feet. I'm glad that we chose to adopt him into our family, and look forward to seeing him grow with my girls!
