Sleeping with my Boston?

I am adopting a Boston Terrier and his foster family let him sleep with them. I personally would prefer him to sleep in his own bed. Would he feel left out?

Sleeping With Your Boston
by: Misty

I recently adopted a 3-year old Boston (whom I have quickly fallen in love with!). I already had a Chihuahua who slept in the bed with me, and my Boston looooves sleeping in the bed too. It's really not so bad, other than her occasionally stinky hind end and snoring. I have tried to have her sleep in her crate but she wants nothing to do with it. Like everyone else said though, if you really don't want her in the bed, start training her to sleep in the crate at night. Good luck whatever you decided!

Sleeper

Our Bostons want to sleep with us too, but I can't take the moving around in the middle of the night; it wakes me up. So ours sleep in their crate at night, but they seem to love their crate. We do keep trying to have them in the bed, but usually I wake up with one looking at me at 2:00am, so I get up and put him in his crate until we wake at 4:30am. Our female seems to move around less and she has slept the whole night with us. I love it in the winter when my feet are cold!

I guess that will depend a great deal upon his basic temperament. My husband and I couldn't wait for our Bostons to be large enough to sleep with us. We love waking up with them snuggled against us or each other. However, if you really don't want this, you'll probably have to put up with some fussing. Please make sure you keep your dog in your bedroom if at all possible so he won't be lonely. It's an adjustment just to come live with you; he may need to be close at first for security.Toys in bed with him might help. It might have to be a crate and not an open bed to keep him confined and not jumping at or on your own bed. Please let us know how it turns out.
