Shy and scared boston terrier male

by Belinda

I have a 6 week old boston terrier male. I've only had him for 3 days now, but he is extremely shy and scared. I've read that bostons are usually very lively dogs but little Duky is anything but.... He is also still very unsturdy on his feet. Is this normal?

Won't be shy for long

6 weeks old is very young. Generally most puppies are very shy at that age & sleep a lot...they are still babies. Give him another month or so. I'm sure you'll see a difference. You'll wish he was that way again! LoL He'll start biting everything (teething) and become friendly & playful. Also, make sure you are socializing him with different types of people, sounds, environments. He should get to used to hearing cars, trucks, other dogs barking...different outside noises. And he should get used to different types of people...young, old, sunglasses, hats & different races as well. I have a 7 month old male & he loves people & other dogs. Bostons are great & loyal to their owner. Enjoy him.

Unsturdy/Shy
by: Mary

Our male was so un-coordinated it was funny. He ran like his legs were 3 sizes too big. He sometimes ran so hard he would run right into the walls! He did grow out of that after about 6 months.

He was somewhat shy at first but not for very long. My friend has a female Boston and she is very shy. She doesn't want anyone touching her at first. This kind of dog you approach more carefully and let her learn to trust you. You just go a lot slower!
