boston anal gland irritation?
by: Riva Gardner

it sounds like your boston has a parasite or his/her anal glands need to be drained. The vet can easily drain the gland for you or you can try it yourself but its kind of gross..thumb and forefinger on either side of anus. push in with both fingers and pinch your fingers together about an inch behind the end of the anus. Pull your pinched fingers towards the anus opening...liquid should come out of the anus. This will be from the anal gland.

Itching Ears
by: Mary

It sounds like ear mites but only the vet can tell. Is there some black looking gunky stuff in the ear? Be sure and clean it out every day with some cotton balls or Q-tips and some alcohol. Get the ear wet and let it sit for a second or two then wipe it gently. Then you will need to get some meds to kill the mites if it is mites. After you clean the ears try vinegar on the outside of the ear. Apply with a cotton ball and don't let it drip into the ear canal. It's kind of stinky, but it should help after a week or two. Also, boost the dogs immunity. Try Immugen. You can get it here: http://www.holisticpetinfo.com/conditions/immune_support.htm

It might not be mites, but the vinegar and Immugen should help even if it's not. Also, try some fish oil supplements. I just get the people kind at the grocery store and cut a little hole in the end of the capsule and squeeze it on my dogs food.

Good luck!

For Itchy Skin
by: Sharri Bronas

I have had problems with my dogs itching. Not sure what caused it all of a sudden. Might be the weather/heater inside. I am really into natural products and I use Ark Naturals Neem Protect Shampoo. This can be found in some health food stores or online. Also, I use Vets Best Hot Spot Spray. It has no alcohol and instantly soothes the bad spots. It smells good too. That can be bought at Petco or Petsmart. Some people have to resort to Baby Liquid Benedryl. I try not to use that unless absolutely necessary. Hope it helps!
