sensitive ears

My boston is a very active 9 year old female, lately when I pet her head pressing down on her ears ( in a gentle petting way) she will often yelp. Is this because she is getting older and mabey the blood flow to her ears isn't as strong and cartalidge is softer which causes pain when touched? It breaks my heart to hear that "yelp" should I take her to the vet or just be extremely gentle now?

Ear trouble

I don't think she should be yelping. Hold her down and look in her ears. If there is any blackish gunk or redness then there is a problem. You should probably see the vet anyway because he can see down into the ear and detect any problems. It's probably an infection and that can be taken care of easily.
