Rescue Boston Terrier

by Dianne
(Naples)

I picked up a Boston Terrier last night. He made it through the night. I love animals and can't stand seeing anything mistreated whether it is from neglect, etc. This Boston is so sweet and so skinny. I have tried a lot of food items, egg and hamburger last night. Today no food, so trip to vet is on today's program. Even took off work. So outside a little pancake syrup to keep the blood sugar up, any suggestions are helpful. I have a beautiful other Boston that took a lot to get where she is.
Thanks a lot.

our rescue update
by: DianneR

Quick post, our Rescue Boston is the best dog we ever had. Loves to play, eat of course (our vet approved home made food) ride in the car, comes when he is called. Just a delight.
Bostons are smart and do require I'd say more care than many dogs but the rewards are tremendous.

Such a joy to come home to 2 jumping Bostons to welcome me at the door.

Thanks to everyone who reads and comments about their Bostons. and, Thanks to the one who takes care of the site so we can all post and learn about our beloved pets.

Under Dog Foster Responds
by: Anonymous

bless you for allowing this wrinkle in your life. puppies aren't perfect either and i've fostered and adopted every color in the lifespan rainbow including hospice. Every animal is different. Just like a child, put down boundries. Kenneling is good. A leash works well too. A short No. and a tiny pull of the leash. This breed is very sensitive, no need for spanking or yelling. They'll get the hint. but be consistant. They are very smart and very goal oriented. Make this into a game and you're new wrinkle will smooth out. You'll bond too. It's all about trust. You're half way there.

New Wrinkle
by: Dianne

We took Max to the vet and continued with hand feeding and a few days later he is up running around. Still thin but the food we are giving him is vet approved and he is doing well.

A new wrinkle has developed since we took Max. My daughter came to visit and he growled at her and snapped in a defensive pose. After putting him in his cage and then introducing him to her on a leash he rolled over and let her scratch her belly.

Guess there was something else we weren't told about Max. Time will tell.

Thanks for your kind response.

some ideas
by: Laura

Well, my Boston loves to eat so I have never had this problem. Oatmeal is very appealing to mine and so is fruit and cheese. Just a few suggestions.
