Is it okay to let my 13 week old boston terrier puppy up on the couches and beds?

just my 2 cents

Yes, but only if you invite him/her to be on the couch and beds, and he/she needs to learn to get down and stay down when you say so. Although I enjoy having Truman on the couch and bed with me, my guests may not. I had issues with him thinking he owned the couch and anyone on it! As a result, I had to train him that he can only get on the couch/bed if I ask him to come up, and when I say "down" that means "down". It was an easy process and a win-win for us.

So true, Mary. That's why we switched all our living room furniture to leather. No more hair caught in the fabric!

Boston on the couch

How could you not let your precious Boston on the couch or bed? After all they're really part human/part dog! Ours (ok, she's really mine)is always on top of me on the couch and under the covers at nighttime. Doesn't get any better than that! Couchtime in the evening with my Boston (and ok my husband is there too) is my favorite time of day!!

Unless you own the house...you need to go ask the owner. If you own the house (and couch and bed) then YOU decide. Ours do get on the couch and on the bed. They have a crate for night time or when we are not home also.

If you have a very nice couch and don't want it to smell of a dog or have dog hair on it...then train them now NOT to get up there. They will eventually pee on it (by accident) so keep it covered!

Absolutely. In fact, it's almost a requirement with this breed. They want to be on you if possible, and if not, then right next to you. Our Bostons sleep under the covers and when we're watching TV (or on the computer...) they are on our laps, usually covered by a blanket. Enjoy!
