Precious is my 18mo pug. She just had 6 bugg puppies. I
just wanted to know if anybody knows if their tails should be docked. please let me know. I know Boston terriers are but pugs are not.

Docked tail
by: Anonymous

My buggs tail is docked - wish it was not, though. It is cute. Guess it' just preference and the dock Boston terrier's tails because they are normally kinked.

Bostons do not need to have their tails docked; they are naturally short. The following is from the breed standard:

"The tail is set on low, short, fine and tapering, straight or screw and must not be carried above the horizontal. (Note: The preferred tail does not exceed in length more than one-quarter the distance from set-on to hock.) Disqualify: Docked tail."

Pugs have the curly-cue tail right over the back; I think your Buggs will have one or the other or a blending of genetics. They are what they are; leave them alone, and they will be just fine. A Bugg, no offense intended, is a mixed breed dog and cannot be shown anyway, so what would be the point of docking? They can, however, be shown in obedience fun matches.
