Potty-ing in the "den"...

I have a 6 month old male BT - "Tuff". He has picked up on all training and is doing great - even has a few tricks to his repertoir. He sleeps in the bed, but recently he has started to "wet the bed!" It was a shock to me that he would pee in the den. This is where he sleeps! I take him out right before bedtime and take up all water and food about an hour prior to that.

When he has done this I haven't always caught him in the act so it's hard to reprimand him over it. I did put his face in it and scolded 'no!' this last time, but I have heard this is ineffective especially when it is after the fact. He potties outside and is good about telling me when he has to go. The only change is that he was neutered about 10 days ago - could this be a factor?? What should I do??

Potty ing in the den

By what you wrote I am thinking he has never done this before so my first thought is, has he been for his check up since he has been nuetered? I would be concerned that he has an infection starting from the surgery. That would be where I would start first is back to the Vet. At that age and if he has not gone potty in there before he would not start now unless there is a problem. For now I would get up in the middle of the night and take him out for a break until he gets checked. If it is not an infection I would suggest removing his water 2 hours before bed and take him out twice. One time an hour before bed. All dogs never completely drain their bladder.
