My one year old Boston Terrier just had both eyes surgically done with cataract surgery. It's been a week now and he has developed a blue cloud in his cornea and I am trying to figure out if this is post op normal or did my eye doc miss something? Please help or advise.

Cataracts on Boston Terrier
by: Sharon

Alison ..... I am curious about your comment on the cataracts on 1 year old. My Boston just turned 1 on October 9, 2012 and I took him to get his nails trimmed and the tech noticed large cataracts on each eye. I have to see an eye dr on Monday. They said he may need surgery and we are talking 2500 - 3000 per eye. Not sure what to do. I won't know until I talk to the eye dr though. I would have never noticed anything. His eyes are blue in the middle when the light hits them but I would have never thought cataracts.

juvenile cataracts

I am not sure if this is normal during healing or if your doctor missed something. I would be very concerned on why your doctor suggested to even do this surgery on a 1 year old dog. Juvenile cataracts many times spontaneously reabsorb within one year of their appearence.
