Percy

We rescued him as a four year old untrained, unneutered male full of aggression. 6 years later he is a wonderful pet- energetic but not annoyingly so, loyal and fun. He is like a living teddy bear and loves to be snuggled in with you under the covers for the night. He is the smartest dog I have ever owned- he trained himself after we got him by observing the response of my other dogs to commands. And he is extremely sensitive- he can often tell by your face what you expect before you say a word. Everyone that meets him loves him because he has such a distinctive character.

Percy likes to win

A very amusing example of how smart Percy is: He loved to play Tug of War with a two handled dog toy, with our Great Dane Thor. The first two times they played, Thor won, by simply lifting Percy off the ground when he tired of the back and forth. Percy would not let go, would hang in the air trying to shake the toy our of Thor's mouth. But by the third time, he had a winning strategy: With amazing speed, as he hung in the air, he would let go, nip Thor on the cheek and startle him into losing his grip, grab the toy on his way to the floor and take off with it. Thor never got past being surprised so Percy would win forever more!
