Patellar Luxation Surgery

So my 3 year old boston had luxating patella surgery about a week ago....she had her trochlear groove deepened ....i have been reading more about the surgery and it seems like most also get a tendon tightened...my surgeon said that it was not necessary...so what i am questioning is will the groove correct the problem or was there more correction needed?
