One ear flopped back down!

by Angela
(Canada)

Hi, my name is Angela and I have a 10 month old boston terrier named Brutus. He's my little clown and I love him to death!

His ears had both been standing up perfectly straight on their own from the time he was around 5 or 6 months old till last week when one of them just flopped back down. We have taped it up but I don't know if that would help at his age.

Has anyone ever seen this happen before? Is there anything we can do to get it to go back up?

Thank you for your input!

My sons Boston has had both ears up for a few months now he is 6 months. Then one just flopped forward. I was worried about injury since he plays with bigger dogs too. Will keep watchimg this thread best thing would be to talk to the vet. Good luck!

Floppy Ear

HI, I read somewhere that when puppies are getting their adult teeth that their ears might flop back down for a few days. Then they should go right back up. Good luck!

I have a Boston 9 mos. old that also has a floppy ear. Ocasionally both ears will stand up, but not for long. I have just begun to research this matter, in hopes to slove this problem. If you find something that works on your dog I would appreciate you sharing the info with me.

Thank you,

Don Summers

My BT had only one ear up and now it too is down...mmm the only thing I remember is that when I was bathing him I accidently bended his ear back...I wonder if that caused it to go down.

flip flop

I had a German shepherd (Sianna) who had one floppy ear most of her life but she would put it up for treats. when our older shepherd (Sidney) started slowing down and Sianna started to take over the guard duties her floppy ear started to stay up......... so anything is possible and I am sure the taping will encourage it to stay put.
