New Boston Terrier Acts Like He's Starving

My Boston Terrier (Aries) is 9 weeks old. We just purchased him and the store told us to feed him 1/2 a cup of food twice a day and that's not enough for him. It seems like he is starving all the time.

I read the bag and for his age it should of been one more feeding a day. I don't want to over feed him, but I feel bad when he is looking for more.

That is not enough food for a 9 week old puppy. Feeding 2 x a day helps with potty training however he is too young to understand potty training anyway. I feed all of my pups until 12 weeks old 3x per day. Bostons are very food motivated dogs. They love to eat. When you take him to the vet for a check up ask them the amount per feeding for his weight. I do think manufactures put an over amount of food on their instructions. Most dogs would get very fat if we fed the amount they say.

He is so cute ! We had recently lost a dog that was never really potty-trained so I was determined to do right by our Oscar. We monitored his food and water to help with the potty training. I do not remember limiting the amount of dry food we provided but let him eat his full 3-times per day. I did limit Oscar's water (only putting it down 3-times per day) but he taught us that this was not adequate (the water bowl was on the counter and he would jump up and jump up on the cabinets until we placed the water down). So the water came down and the dry food came down and he did very well (a pee accident in the sectioned off kitchen every now and then). We let Oscar graze and drink whenever he needed after the cupboard jumping episode. Oscar was completely trained before 5-months of age. We hung large Christmas bells by one of the doors (off a command strip) and taught him to ring the bells to let us know when he wanted to go out. He's a champ and the bells ring when he needs to go out. Oscar is the best dog and I tell him every day how much I love him.

I feed my boston 3/4 cup twice a day but he still acts like he's starving. You can always ask the vet but my 2 year old, Moose, gobbles his food like I haven't fed him in days. :)
