Neutering??

I have a Boston Bull terrier and he is about 5 years old. We have a baby on the way, and I want him to get used to the idea, though I don't want him to "mark" all the baby stuff as his territory. Im wondering about having him nuetered?? He has such a great temperment and is a really good dog... I don't want to risk making him miserable by doing this, although if it would be a possitive thing to do, i want to get it done before the baby comes?? Any advice??

Just do it!

Neutering your male will not make him miserable; in fact, just the opposite. He will no longer pine for any female who comes into heat within his sense of smell. I'm not convinced it calms down a personality in general, but he will be a lot less interested in marking territory, although now it's probably a habit and he will do it anyway. He should be able to tell the difference between indoor and outdoor behavior. I think it's the right move, and do it ASAP. He will not have much of a recovery time. They say to keep them quiet, but puppies rebound very quickly, and an older dog will just be more quiet in general anyway.

Enjoy your new bundle-to-be.
