My Chloe

My girl Chloe has had a personality change in the past few weeks. She sits and stares off. She runs into things. She yelps (as if startled) when anything touches her. She has started going to the bathroom in the house and that is very uncharacteristic of her. We rescued Chloe almost 3 years ago from an abusive puppy mill. She had been used purely for breeding and had never been out of her cage :(( Chloe has been so happy with us and is normally so active and playful. Her age has been estimated between 7-8 years. One of her eyes seems to be "glazed" over or "milky", so I'm thinking maybe a cataract? This is my girl! I will be taking her to the doctor on Friday. I can't stand how she stands and shivers and shakes now. Anyone have a similar experience?

Could be a number of things, some based on emotional stress. Please let us know what you find out from the vet.

My BT is experiencing similar symptoms
by: Sandi T.

My precious little BT, Harley has started having spells of extreme shivering/shaking. I've taken him to the Vet and they have done several tests such an EKG & X-rays and can't find anything yet. They have sent the EKG and X-rays to K-State Veterinary School for their input and I'm waiting to see what they day. I noticed yesterday in addition to the shivering/shaking, he is not kicking his legs and jerking too. This makes me think it might be related to an epilepsy/seizure problem. I'm calling the Vet when he gets in the office this morning.

I wish you the best with your dog.

Update on My Chloe
by: GRob

Chloe's dr's visit went well. He does think she has a cataract in her left eye, but she will be going to an opthamologist for further diagnosis. He does not believe her behavioral changes are due to her eye. He believes she is in pain due to her neck or spine possibly. He did several xrays and saw a couple of things that could be causing her problems, but nothing glaringly obvious. He has put her on a low dose anti-inflammatory/pain med to see if she improves. I am already seeing some improvements. I guess my girl's just getting on up in age :((
