My BT is very sick.

Sid, age 14

One week ago, my Boston Terrier had bloody diarrheah. She was given 2 shots and oral antibiotics. One shot was penicillin, the other shot, I don't know, but I suspect it was a steroid. She felt better and was moving around easily and active. Last night she started throwing up and got really lethargic. On the way to the vet she was alternating limp and becoming stiff. The vet again gave her 2 shots and oral antibiotics. She is very lethargic and I have to carry her upstairs and down, inside and out. She is drinking a ton of water, and even though her water bowl was filled, I caught her drinking out of the toilet twice.

My last Boston died at age 9. She was diagnosed with lymphoma after having bloody diarreah.
My current Boston Terrier, Sid, is 14 years old.
I'm wondering if it sounds like the same thing to anyone or if someone has had the same experience. Please let me know.
Worried.

To the lady with BT and bloody stool
by: Anonymous

Maybe your boston has hemorragic gastro enteritis. My boy has had two attacks in a year and a half. It is very important to feed good good and probiotics are helping as well. Ask you vet about them. When bloody stools occur your dog should be put on fluids immediately. Good luck

SID
by: Sandi from Wichita, KS

I hope by the time you read this email Sid is feeling better and starting to improve.

I can identify with you because the times my pups have had something serious wrong with them, I have been a 'basket case."

I will keep Sid and you in my thoughts and prayers. HANG IN THERE!
