by Gabriella

My Boston Rocky, vomits constantly. He throws up at least ever other day. I've changed his dog food, I just don't know what it could be. Does anyone else have this problem with their Boston? He fine before and after the vomit.

Our Boston vomits once in awhile. I was told this was common. When she does that I put steamed rice in her food and it goes away.

Throwing up
by: Dexter

I've had nothing but issues with my dog since i've had him. I am still trying to find food he actually likes. He used to throw up 4-5 times a week, i've been to the vet and emergency hospital a million times, they cant figure out whats wrong with him. I tired ground beef and rice, that doesnt work anymore. He is a very fussy eater.. .after about a month or two i have to switch his food he wont eat it anymore. I now add a bit of water to his dry food, and mix in a bit of wet food and this is the first time in 2 years that he actually finishes his bowl. I hope this keeps on working!

My 2 yr old vomits once in awhile. I was told by other Boston owners that this was common. I put a little steamed rice in her food and it stops. And she's back to her old self.

My Boston does this too
by: Anonymous

We have tried changing her food, getting a gerbil water thing so she can't drink as fast, and giving her yogurt, but nothing works! She does this just about every day and sometimes she feels sick after and sometimes she is fine. She doesn't do it the first couple days after we change her food, but then it starts again! I don't know what to try! The vet has no idea what it is. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My 4 month old does the same
by: Brisco

My boston has been having the same problem. He's not sick, but every once in a while he will have diarrhea. He on Wellness puppy food, which I'm about to change. He burps after he eats and drinks water, sometimes he will vomit. Sometimes he will vomit solid food hours after he has eaten. I don't think it has anything to do with eating or drinking, because he'll wake up and vomit.
The first few times this happened the vet put him on antibiotics and some kaopectate. Which helps a lot! I don't believe he needs the antibiotics though.
The only thing I can think of is he's still developing...? At least I hope this is the case.

Boston throws up after eating
by: Nicole

My Boston was throwing up all the time and we figured out she cannot eat dog food with corn and wheat. She must have some sort of food allergy to it. We buy the no grain formula dog food and she has not thrown up since!

vomiting and treats
by: Anonymous

MY female, Boston Terrier, just started vomiting in the past week. She is 61/2months old. I think it might be the treats I gave her. So, I stopped.
Is there a age where you can give them treats ? (She also was just spayed, but the vomiting started a day before she went in.)

Food Allergies
by: Anonymous

My 5 yr old girl started doing the same thing out of the blue. She would get sick every other day or so. We found out it was food allergies. These guys can be fine on their food but develop food allergies very quickly. We switched our girl to Dick Van Pattens low allergen formula and she has been fine since. My mother feeds her Bostons the same thing when her girls started getting sick on occasion. Our vets now loves this dog food and recommends it to every family that has a pup with food allergies.

We think the Venison and Sweet Potato version is the one our girl likes the best. She has been on it for over a year now and hasn't gotten sick once.

How Long?
by: Kim

How long is it after he eats? I have a boston who is 3 years old...I noticed he was throwing up his food every so often hours after eating. I took him to the vet and they ran some tests showing that he can't digest solids only liquids because his pyloris (the ring at the bottom of his stomach) isn't large enough. He goes for surgery on December 1st to make the opening larger.

Bostons have spastic stomachs
by: Mimi L.

I had a boston that did it every time he would get excited or upset. if i changed his schedule it was going to happen. If i was late from work it happened. I never did find a fix but the older he got the less it happened.

Upset stomach...
by: HM

I had a problem with my boston puppy doing that for a little while after her spaying...but it was like a week after her spaying (not a direct result of the meds). My vet told me to give her some liquid benadryl. It helps them to stop vomitting. I gave her about 3ml every day for 3 days and it solved the problem. My boston is allergic to everything so I got the dye free one. You can get it at any pharmacy. You can also purchase the dropper in the children's section of any pharmacy. I would say try that out and see if that helps...good luck!!

Vomitting
by: Mary

Our Bostons vomit when they have eaten something that wants to go up instead of down...and also when they have over-exerted themselves. We try to keep them away from the string, plastic, and such...but they find it hidden in the strangest places. Also, they have sneaked into the trash once or twice. Now we have a trash can with a tight lid! They cough up what we call a "hair ball". As far as the times when they have over done it...we give them water and let them rest. If your puppy keeps vomiting and nothing comes out...perhaps there is something there. Maybe not,but the vet can do a pretty cheap x-ray and hopefully rule out a tonga toy or such! Some Bostons just have a "spit-up" cycle that they live with...

yes, my boy Boston vomits often
by: Mimi.S

my 4 year old Boston does this too and mostly without any warning... its just sort of a "splat!" and then he's fine again

we've noticed it happens a lot if he's woken up from sleeping especially if he's all warm from being under the covers

and honestly he is much smaller than out other Boston so sometimes (by mistake) he get over cookied and thats usually what he throws up

hope this helps a bit
