My 4 month old boston terrier is 12 months old, is this normal...and how big do you think she will get ? is it possible she is just growing really fast?!

ed. - i left your original question as submitted, but did you mean to say that your 4 mo old BT is 12 lbs?

I have a 13 week old that is 9lbs. I read somewhere in my quest to determine how much he would weigh that for a guideline you can take the weight at 4 months and double it to give you an estimate of the full grown weight. I also read that they can grow a few extra pounds after their one year mark.

Hope this helps. Of course my vet has told me that my Boston Terrier will only be 10lbs. I originally guessed 14 based on the weight of the parents. It became a topic due to heart worm medicine that I didn't want to purchase for a years worth that would only suffice as it had a weight restriction on it. I am thinking my vet is going to loose on this one, but she is still determined that my pooch will only put on one more pound!??

I did already leave a comment but I worded it wrong, my BT (female) is 12 pounds at about 4 months. I got some good information off of other peoples questions,buy my biggest concern is shes going to be one of the BT's that are in the 30-40lb range!
What are the chances of this? And Can you tell how big shes going to be by her weight size now?

I have Jack who's 27 lbs and Emma who's 20 lbs. Their litter will be 7 wks on 8/7. From Jack & my friend's BT, Nina's (who's 14 lbs) litter I got Raven who was one of the smallest. Now, Raven who will be 12 wks on 8/10 is the same size as her step-siblings.
I believe they're like us, it depends on their genes and they're growth speeds.

If you have a 4 month old that is 12 pounds, that's not so big. Our 6 month old was 17 pounds. He is now full grown at 22 pounds. He is what we call medium sized. I have heard of 30 pound Boston Terriers. They come in all sizes, even 9 pounds.

If you meant that he is as big as a 12 month old, then the same is true: they come in all sizes.

He will probably keep growing until he is at least 8 months old. But the rate that they grow slows down each month that they get older.
