dogs are not disposable
by: Jd.. momof4BT's

if u don't have time to walk a dog , maybe u shouldn't have one. bostons love to be around their owners all the time. If u are not around and don't have time for it u certainly will have a troubled dog. maybe this is not the right time? that is why so many people give there dogs up and blame it on the dog cause it is misbehaving and really it is the owners fault 100%. dogs look to be taught.

I agree with everything Mary said; however, I would suggest waiting until your child is at least 3 years old or close to it. This is because it will be easier for him to understand about not being rough with real-live animals. Also, Bostons tend to jump up on people because they just LOVE everyone. At 3 you can teach your son to "turn away" from a jumping Boston and still keep his balance. You might want to consider a young adult where you can evaluate the temperament instead of hoping for the best in a puppy. Doing your research ahead of time is extremely important, especially because you don't want to get a dog and then have to give it up. That would be a horrible example for your son. Take your time. Pick a good time of the year, maybe when you go on vacation so you can have a couple of weeks to settle in, and good luck! Plan on at least one 20-minute brisk walk a day, and if that's not possible, try to clear a hallway or area between rooms where you can throw fetch toys and let the Boston get exercise that way. Let us know what happens.

Inside Dog
by: Mary

Boston Terrier's make great inside dogs! With their short little noses, they NEED to be kept inside and not outside. They don't need too much exercise especially the smaller ones (12-18 pounds). They are not the best dog when it comes to potty training, but they do learn after a while. If you are getting a puppy, then you might want to invest in a litter box. But plan on taking your puppy outside to potty at least once every hour or two at first. Also, crate training is the best! All things considered, they are a good choice for an apartment dog.

Cudos to you for doing your research BEFORE you adopt!
