my Boston Terrier (MIKI) has the hives, we havent changed her food or given her anything new to eat, she has had a shot of benadryl but she has hives back today. Does anyone have a similar experience?

Hives

Yes, my female Scarlett has come down with them 3 or 4 times, usually after she has been outside in the summer, so we think she has either been the victim of a bug bite (my preferred theory) or some sort of grass/plant allergy. It's completely systemic, not site specific. I give her one 25 mg. Benadryl pill along with a lukewarm - to- cool bath or sponge down with a cool facecloth, and within a half hour the hives are visibly subsiding. She's just a little miserable from the itching for a while, but I try to distract her and keep her comfortable. She's never out if we're not home,so I don't worry about it happening and not being here to take care of her. If someone babysits for us, I always include Benadryl tablets and instructions.
