Mick

I picked up this eight year old Boston Terrier / Jack Russell mix from the shelter a few days ago. He has endless energy, loves to walk on a leash and will fetch all day. He has yet to bark and the people at the shelter said they have never heard him bark either and he was there fro 2 and a half months. Both Bostons and Jack Russells are said to weigh under 20 pounds but this guy weighs in at 32 pounds. Any chance he is some other kind of mix?

This may sound odd but I bought my Bo-jack in Hampton nine yrs ago. He was the runt of the litter. Your dogs markings and facial appearance including the "crooked stripe" up his snout is exact to my pup Draven! It seems very possible that yours may not be 8yrs old but 9 now and maybe a relative of my fur son. I know for fact that mine was much smaller than his siblings as I met them. Also, each one of his moms pups had one or two black toe pads (bottom of paws) does yours? If so....his bday was oct 6 2003 and he has three brothers and a sister somewhere too! Draven has a few health problems but nothing severe (allergies, hyperventilates, and occasional back spasms) other than that he's a haywire crazy dog. Pls email if u wish disneyvacation08@yahoo.com -Kari is my name

Your information on BT'S weight is not complete.
The smaller ones weigh 20lbs but then you have larger ones that weigh 25-30 lbs and still not be considered over weight. The biggest one I have heard of is 32. I have a 3 yr. old male that weighs in at 30 lbs. he is not fat just pure muscle. I also have a 9 month old female and she already weighs like 22 lbs. so I am thinking she is going to weigh over 25 too.

ed., the info is per the AKC breed standard. Doesn't mean there aren't smaller or larger that fall outside of that range, but that is what the "ideal" is.
