Meet Harvey and ACA Questions

Hey guys just wanted share some pics of my new puppy Harvey! This is my first BT and I'm in love - lol. I've gotten his papers but they are "ACA" from what I read most people dont like them? But dont really matter - I dont plan on breeding him - just dont know what the big fuss is about ACA. I got him from a breeder who does BT's and I met his parents, so could anyone really tell me what is so bad with ACA breeds? Thanks all!

Registries
by: Mary

I am not an expert, but from my experience I have made some conclusions. AKC is the registry where "it all stems from" so to speak (at least here in America. Each country has it's own registry.) I figure over time someone had an AKC dog but they didn't register it. After all you don't HAVE to register them. Then after a couple of breedings down the line someone wanted to register their pup. The only way you can register your pup with AKC is if BOTH his parents are already registered with AKC. At least that is my understanding. So, some people got together and formed another registry. Maybe it was CKC (Continental NOT Canadian)or ACA or APRI, or...the list goes on. Also, some breeders have had "difficulties" with AKC and decided to switch.

Some people feel that AKC should be the only choice but I am glad that we live in a free country where we have choices. AKC is a very good registry with very high standards and has it's place. But some people want different choices and should be allowed to make those choices including no registry at all.
