Lola & Bosley

My female is doing everything possible to make the male interested. She presents herself frequently, goes as far as to crawl underneath him and toss him on to her back. There both about five and a half years old. It is his first time breeding and one would think he would jump at the chance, he is just not interested in anything except playing around. Does ANYONE have any tips or tricks I should try to entise him to her?

Thank You So Much!

I am anonymous one & two but need help
by: VIKKI

I am breeding my male dog for the first time. He is of age and is ready. The female is of someone who contacted me for breeding. I want a puppy from my males line so I am interested. The female was brought to me on saturday bleeding, and the lady said she should be ready any daynow. She would not let my male dog near her. Then I put her up and went to work. When I came back, my male ran straight to her kennel so i let her out, she stood right in front of him like TAKE ME! So they tried saturday night for a couple of hours, and almost all day sunday. He kept trying and trying but couldn't get a tie. I know he was all over the place at first, but then he seemed to be getting it. Once his little boy parts came out of the shell she would turn around and start licking him. Then by Monday they were just laying with each other, not doing anything. He would still sniff her a little and lick on her,but nothing else. Sunday night I did leave them together all night, as advised by my mentor. But like I said they were not doing anything Monday. So Monday about 2pm I seperated them tell about 11am this morning. (Like I was also advised) Now my male seems very interested, but it seems as thou the female is not. She will bite at him if he tries to hump her. She also does not apear to be swollen either. At least not as much as when she got here on Saturday. I don't see any bleeding either, and like I said she will attack him if he tries to hump her. but she will let him lick all over her. My mentor advised me to try holding her, since she tries to lick him once he gets it out, and also to try and help guide it into her as well. I tried that today, and with her it worked, but with him it seems as thou if i touch him he will get off of her. (which I would to) but by the time he would let me touch him he had already came all over her backside and wherever else his sperm landed, and was swollen and therefore would not go into her. My mentor said that it seems as thou they might have already tied. But I haven't seen it. I am sorry to write you a book I just really need help. I do not want the owner of the female getting mad at me at all, and I really would like a puppy from my baby boy. Thanks in advance, and if you can please please help!!

Hi I was just wondering what happened with your two bostons? I have a boston terrier that is a few years old that has never bred before, but isn't tying with the female that was brought over to my house. He is trying his little heart out to hump her, at first he was very clumsy, and seems to get better, but he still hasn't tied with her. He has definately had his pee pee "come out of his shell" but it doesn't go inside of her. My brother suggested I put them in a small room by themselves, where they have plenty of privacy and calmness. The female has been bred before (2 litters). She is very ready and backs up on him, he does try and play a little bit, but wants her really bad too. He seems to be getting better, but still hasn't tied. What do I do?

Please help... What happened with ur dogs as well
by: Anonymous

I am in kind of the same senario only the male is mine and the female is a friend of mine... I just wanted a puppy from my baby's line! He will mount her... She backs up to him she is ready and she has had two litters before! This is his first time! He mounts her but can't get it in her! Should I help? Or what do I do? It has always been natural in the past (with my past dogs) they just did it! My brother told me to just put them in a room and let them keep trying! He said they need peace! Please help!

Breeding

Optimum breeding conditions are that the female be brought over to the males residence. If she is trying to back up to him then she should be very ready. He should be sniffing her already. After the "sniff" he does some internal calculations and decides whether it is "time" or not. Perhaps it is not her time but sounds like it is. If this continues and she comes out of heat, then take your male to the vet. It is possible that he is sterile or there are some other problems preventing him from the tie. It could be the female to so if all checks out for him then you should have your female checked out too.

At first we did not have a male and we contracted a stud but the owner did not want to have our female over so we took in the male. The male would sniff and sniff but never mounted. The male was returned and we waited for a year. In the mean time we acquired our own male so on her next heat we mated them. There was no problem this time whatsoever! Our male mounts pretty willingly!

We used him as a stud for a friend of mine too. Her male would never penetrate her female. She had her male tested and it turns out he was sterile. He was a good pup too; AKC and everything!

Be patient. The day you don't want it to happen,it will!
