Sant Goobie and his elf (Wobbles the 3-legged cat)!

Sant Goobie and his elf (Wobbles the 3-legged cat)!

I have a 12.5 month old gentleman named Goobie that I found that someone had left in a box when he was barely big enough to fit in the palm of my hand. I bottle fed him and went through heck house breaking him and training him, but have suceeded and he is doing fantastic! I don't have any complaints whatsoever except he is a attention hog when it comes to me being around people or other dogs! He's not aggressive or anything, he wants to be around me 24/7/365 and has a personality so exceptional that he is a joy to be around and I have grown fond of his snoring and farting and sometimes obnoxious behavior! When he wants my affection he will litterally get on my lap and will litterally hug, kiss, and push his head and body into my chest! It concerns me sometimes when we are out on our walks (we walk 1-2 miles a day at the dog park) he doesn't want me to pet or be near other dogs. He will greet and say hi to other dogs, but heaven forbid another dog or person getting near dad (me)! He won't snarl or get aggressive or anything like that, but he will put himself between me and the other dog/person until they go away! I see it at being nothing more than him wanting my and ONLY my attention and visa versa, but I was wondering if I should nip it in the bud in the possibility that he starts turning aggressive? I mean....I think it's adorable that he is so desiring of my attention and make EVERY effort to show my son that he is numero uno in my life, I just don't want him to think it's alright to get aggressive in terms of my affection towards other dogs or people in genneral! I have become so attached to my son (Goobie) that I can't imagine my life without him! Another thing that I don't like is that (blush) he has a desire to eat deer poop! Now, before anyone says or thinks I need to give him different or more food, I will say that I feed Goobie ONLY the finest of foods, Steak, liver, tuna, he LOVES yogart (1-2 tablespoons a day) chicken, hamburger, pork, steamed brocoli, along with his normal every day snacks and treats (puperoni sticks, waggon train chicken jerky, milk bonz) BUT even after feeding him (I'm not exagerating) as much as he can eat of top sirloin or t-bone steak (fully cooked but NOT charred) he will run out and eat a mouthfull of deer poop! He doesn't make a meal of it, just a few nibbles and that's it! I get on him and I get on him and I get on him, to no avail! I talked to a vet and said it won't hurt him but that I need to make sure he is wormed monthly and that I need to inspect his feces of it's consistancy and presence of worms.

So, why am I concerned? Well......Alot of people don't like dogs licking their face, but I'm not like most people (at least I'm not until I found Goobie). Before, I never liked a dog licking my face and still don't, but when it comes to Goobie since he was a little baby, it was OBVIOUS that our bonding went above and beyond ANY relationship I have ever had with a dog! So yeah, if he wants to lick my face to show affection to me, I LET HIM and as sick as it may sound, I kiss his face to show him I acknowlege his affection! Getting back to him eating deer poop......as much as I love my son giving me kisses, I don't care for it knowing he eats deer poop! Does anyone have this problem and if so how did you get your Boston to quit eating it? Well.....My son is waking up and it's potty time and then breakfast. Any suggestions would be interesting to read! Goobie and I hope you have a good day! If anyone would be interested in writing my personal email address it is ironworker57703@yahoo.com Thank you!

Poop eaters!!
by: Friend of BT

Love the previous stories!! Like it or not the dogs can smell remaining nutrients in the feces. In fact feeding table scraps and people food will contribute to eating their own poo, Yuck! Their noses are good and digestive tract pretty strong. My Bt's have eaten some pretty bizarre goodies before I got very proactive. First.. scour your dog property of alien debris constantly and, try not to freak out when ever your pup gets a belly ache (it might take a day or so but they usually pass, 2 days+ and a vet visit in case of blockage). Second..make sure any Bt who is not feeling good is warm and loved on! and don't forget spoiled!!

i'm so glad to hear someone loves their wee boy as much as i love mine! my boyfriend thinks im strange becuase i love Sam (my son) sooooo much.

He is a huge licker and tends to do a taste test on everything he comes across, from walls to rubbish lying on the street and he still licks me to death and my skin hasnt broke out i dont have worms or anything else folk think can be picked up from dogs. Dogs have a very clean mouth, infact we all do, its self cleaning and i wouldnt worry about your wee boy kissing you all the time, if the vet says its fine, then its fine.

All the best

Can you be kissed to death?
by: Boston's Mom

Having rescued a year old Boston, if I didn't know better I would think it your dog's brother! After a year and half, he is my shadow. He is slowly becoming more independent and will lay down in the other room. But generally speaking, you can find him by my side when I get home. The dog park, well that is another thing all together. He does not want to know about other dogs and especially does not want me or my husband ot even associate with another dog! He breaks out the "don't you even think about it" look with the teeth sticking out on one side and growls and snaps. He doesn't bite but sure wants to make his presence know and who he belongs too. He is equally bad when he is on a leash. On the flip side, he is has been great once he gets to another dog like at the pet sitter - of leash of course.

Kisses, kisses, kisses or should I say Energizer Boston? It is never ending. He cannot get enough of giving the kisses to either me or my husband. He does the whole paws on the shoulder, sits up on you lap and is ready to go. I try to stear him away with my hand...but back to the face at all times. I thought this was just him but I guess not. He even stands up straight to try to give me kisses when I get home from work.

Does bed hog also go with the kissing??? He has a knack for getting under the covers and curls up with you. Then, he does the strech - 2-4 paws against you and straight out he goes. Mind you he takes up my whole side of the bed. I am such sound sleeper that I don't even know he gets under there but I wake up at the edge of the bed and this guy is all sprawled out!

And you mentioned deer poop. Been there too. We don't have it where we are know but it is a favorite. A past vet siad they eat the poop in general because they small the food that wasn't digested...maybe they should eat grass then?

Enjoy your Boston.. and the whacky things that they do. He sounds like a Mr. Personality....

Deer Poop Delight

My Bostons like to eat cat poop. I think you are the lucky one. Cat poop is....well....CAT poop and I would rather they eat deer poop. I holler, scold, and make them "drop it" and ignore them for a while after they eat it, but if they can get it they WILL eat it. The only thing that helps is if I pick it up out of the yard. Like I can see that stuff! It's hidden, but I follow them around the yard and when they find it I put it in a poop bag and throw it away. I think our back yard is the potty ground for the neighborhood cats. I see the neighbor's cats and what are they doing???? Pooping in MY yard while my Bostons are inside watching them.

I would love to have my Bostons lick my face but the thought of that cat poop freaks me out. When they do sneak a lick....and they Do.....I quietly FREAK OUT inside and walk slowly to the sink and wash my mouth out with soap. I think soap is better than cat poop!

I also have the dogs checked for worms and give them their heartworm meds regularly.

Some day I will purchase a really fine water gun and hide in my room with my window barely open and that gun very full and my finger on the trigger....... :)
