Irritated/Red eyes...

My Boston's eyes are always watery and irritated. I use some eyedrops + warm compresses to no avail. The right eye is redder than the left. What could be causing this? How to prevent or help it?

It could be just allergies, but it could be something more. I have learned from experience to not to guess. You should take your dog to an eye specialist. I learned the hard way, because our vet thought Princess just had a scratch on her eye and treated it as such. Her eye ended up rupturing and now she is blind in her left eye. It was a corneal disease. If I had taken her to the eye doctor she would still have use of that eye.
