HYPER BOSTON SPANIEL

Not sure if anyone else has this problem, but it's driving me crazy! My Boston Spaniel is 14 months old and is still doing bad things....steals everything (socks, clothes, game pieces, slippers, etc.). I can't dust when he's around because he goes crazy and tries to bite the cloth. I can't vacuum because he tries to bite the vacuum. As soon as you grab him and take whatever he took away, he's onto something else! Will this EVER stop??? I've had plenty of dogs in my life but never one this crazy! HELP!

Crazy dog is right!
by: K

Sounds just like my little monkey. He just turned 3 and is the best dog I have ever been around, cute, cuddly and FULL of energy! It took about a year and a half to fully train him but that doesn't take the energy away, I can hardly put on my pants without him grabbing on and not letting go. He has chewed up the "dog proof" toys and about 200 others, but luckily that is all he chews on. He loves chasing birds, squirrels and anything else that moves. We have recently taught him how to water ski. He loves the lake and any pool he can find. He is currently at 35lbs gaining only about 5lbs from 2-3. I love this dog more than 90% of the people I meet and would not trade him for the world! If anyone has any other puppies I would love to buy another!

Another Boston Spaniel thief
by: Linda Myers

Jerry, our 5 year old Boston Spaniel, is also a thief. He LOVES to grab my husband's shoes and run outside with them. You would think that after 5 years of having to search the yard for his shoes, my husband would know not to leave them lying around!

Nevertheless, Jerry is our favorite dog (out of 4!) and we wouldn't trade him for anything. Good luck with your little guy!

Hyper Boston Spaniel

Most dogs don't grow out of the puppy stage tell they about 2 years old. Plus having terrier in is part of it. I raise them & I tell people they do have alot of energy. Don't give up on your baby yet. Most dogs now matter what the breed chew on things & drive us crazy. Its kind of like bringing a new baby home. Have you tried obedience classes or maybe agility. This mix is very smart & if you that it maybe settle him down a little.

Training
by: Mary

Sounds like some basic training techniques could be used here. Some pups are different than others so read what the dog whisperer has to say about each personality and see if this helps you.

We had a pup that isn't listed on this site. She sort of acted like she didn't see or hear us. Kind of in her own world. But she did come around after about 6 months. I think her puppyhood was not spent around people. But now she will sit, beg, dance, and be calm (that one only works sometimes).

It takes a long time working with the dog, but it is well worth it because you begin to enjoy being with your pup!

Good Luck and DONT GIVE UP!
