How to tell if frenchon is really one?

Hello, the dog was listed as a french bulldog/boston mix black and white on CL a year ago. When we met the owner half-way, we were surprised at the size (is larger boned boston at 25 pounds) and had pet store paper saying he is a mix and called the store but info was very limited so I couldn't find out the breeders name (commercial we assume) and too far in Washington to go to. How can we tell since some bostons can be a little larger and cannot afford dog breed paternity test? Anywhere or place to find out? We neutered him but are curious.

We 2 have Frenchbo

Our pup was a small guy in weight about 8 pounds when we purchased him at 10 weeks. All full grown now he is a solid 32 pounds of muscle. When people see him they comment on his frenchie bat-ears first then wonder if he is a huge boston instead. We love him and wouldn't change a thing about him! Good luck with your pup. It will be fun to see if he turns out more frenchie or boston.

Too large for a Boston?

Hi there, I just wanted to comment about your little one. We already "own" two French Bulldogs........A 7 year old male that weighs in at about 25 lbs. And a female that has grown to nearly 40 lbs at the age of 19 months. (Her daddy actually looked more like an English Bulldog) so we think that's where she got her size......both our Frenchies are AKC registered.

We now "own" a Boggle....a mix of a Boston Terrior and a Beagle. She is now 9 months old and has grown as tall as our large Frenchie but still weights only 20 lbs. We have been told that the average Frenchie is about 25 lbs so that is probably where your dog gets the weight.

We have learned that they come in all sizes.....whether they are pure bred or designer dogs as our Boglen Terrior. JUST ALL THE MORE TO LOVE!!!!!
