How much water for Boston Terriers

by Tina

My 3 year old, 25 pound Boston has no signs of loss of appetite. He is playful and energetic. I want to know how much water he should have in the course of a day and how often should he be going out to the bathroom. He holds it all day while I am at work, but lately he's been wanting to go out more than usual and he's always looking for water.

My parents spoil him and give him water from a cup even in the bathroom. Should I be concerned and take him to the vet? I know these dogs can develop diabetes and cushings but I just don't see the other symptoms. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I always make sure I have lots of water available at all times for my animals. If his appetite is good and he is not loosing weight, I would not be concerned and as for asking out, it may be a case that he just wants outside to play and muck around (maybe boredom). I have 3 dogs of different breeds (Bugg, Aussie mix, papillon mix) and they are constantly asking to go in and out (I need a revolving door) and I have 4 feet of snow on the ground and it is -10 C outside.

If you are still concerned you can always ask a vet for your peice of mind you would be the best judge if there were something wrong or not quite right.
you maybe right that he is getting a little spooiled with your parents help after all who doesn't like to waited on hand and foot huh!!

Take care

I have females and males and the males definitely drink way more water. But a call into the vet is free and worth every second.
