How much should my 10 week old puppy weigh?

by Casey

At our first visit to the vet they said he was underweight (only 3 1/2 lbs at 8 weeks) She told us that he was probably the runt and now that he is in a good home he should start growing. He has been eating better and we can see that he is growing. He is going back to the vet in a few days. Just wondering if there is an info about how much they should weigh at different ages?????

There are different categories of sizes even for the Boston Terrier. If the vet said they were underweight, then she must have noticed some ribs or something. Some 8 week BT's are 4 pounds and some can be 10 pounds. My full grown BT (at 3 yrs) is 17 lbs but I have heard of some 3-5 year olds being just 8 pounds. Also, there are some that are over 36 pounds. So as long as the vet says he/she is healthy...then the weight is not that much of a concern.

BTW...for some reason the smaller BT is very popular! You might just have a "toy" or "teacup" sized pup.

hard to predict...

Our old Boston Terrier, who died a couple of months ago at almost 16 years old, weighed 3.5 lbs when we got her at 8 weeks old. They said she'd probably be small, but she grew up to be a big Boston who was tall, and weighed every bit of 25 pounds!
