how long does it take to potty train a Boston Terrier?

I recently got my first BT puppy. He is 8 weeks old. I have started to potty train him indoors and outdoors. For indoors- I have been using a box with newspapers. he pees on the papers if he is placed on there. I am trying to limit his time outside because he only has his first set of shots. is it okay for my bt to be going outside at this age? Also how long does it typically take for BT's to learn to be potty trained indoors?

POTTY TRAINING
by: SHERIDAN

Our "Boggle", Boston Terrior/Beagle" mix was more of a challenge to potty train then were our French Bulldogs. But with any of them, we decided that WE were actually trained before she was. I wouldn't take her to a public dog park when she is so young. But she can certainly go outside. We just took her out VERY OFTEN!!!
Before she ate...after she ate.....when she woke up from a nap...first thing in the morning when she gets....everytime before we leave the house
without her.....BEFORE we went to bed at night.....Always out the same door so she learned to know which door she should go to when she needed to go out.
We have always caged our dogs.....That seems to do the trick. If the cage is the correct size for the dog, they WILL NOT soil their cage....This works especially if you will be gone for any period of time.....She heads to her cage when she notices we are getting ready to head out.....waiting for her treat. And EVERY time she does her business outside she receives a treat as soon as we come back inside.
It seems like a lot of work but the positive attention works alot better then the scolding when she has an accident inside. We have NEVER used the "Pee-Pad" newspaper method. Training yourself to take her in and out as often as you need to seems to work so much better. Hope this may help you.
