I got Lexie, my 8 month old Boston, about two months before having to put down my childhood dog, Blue - a Siberian Husky. Blue was 15 years old and it was obvious that he was coming to the end of his life. Although I had no desire or intention of replacing him, I knew that having another pet in my life would soften the blow when the time did come to say goodbye to my old friend. Getting Lexie was the best decision I have ever made! Not only did she help me get through that tough time, but she has brought me so much joy and laughter since becoming a part of my life! Even when she was diagnosed with a genetic condition called mandibular osteopathy, which caused the bones in her jaw to swell, I had absolutely no regrets about my decision to get her. I realized that we had been brought together for a reason. She had come to me to help me get over the loss of Blue, and I had chosen her because she needed someone who would be willing to care for her when she was sick. The fates smiled upon us both the day we were brought together. :)
