HELP!? Hole under tail..not the rectum!!

My BT, Coal is 7 yrs old and has had anal gland problems repeatedly over the past few years. Well, he has a hole right under his tail filled with black hair/paste, located right above his rectum. Every time I clean with the paper towel he gets all excited and starts spinning and backing it up to me! This is pretty smelly and down right, nasty! I mean, I'll do it just to make him better...IF I'm not doing something wrong! WHAT IS THIS????

My Boston has that same hole problem. The vet said to keep it clean on a weekly bases because it is near the rectum and not us water or soap in the hole as that could cause more problems. to clean it use, a dog ear wash or witch hassle on a qtip and try and keep it dry. The other option is to have the hole surically fixed.

It turned out he was getting boils near his anus. This happens when he eats canned dog food (pedigree or store brand type) when he is away from home and normal food. The vet thinks it is due to a wheat allergy.

My boston has the exact same problem and does the same thing when I get in there to clean and wipe it. What the heck is it and how do you get it to go away? I'll clean her with soap and water down there and it keeps coming back
