Help - cutest Boston Terrier with the worst attitude!

I have arguably one of the cutest bostons (according to everyone who sees him), problem is he knows it. Since he was a babe (almost 2 now) tons of people came by to play with him and i wasn't working as much when he was little. Now when I leave to go to work he pees all over the house. We thought it was marking so for that and obvious other reasons we got him neutered recently. Didn't change. He is fine all day in the house when I am home with him and waits by the door to go pee. When leave for work I walk him before and he pees plenty. I recorded the area where his water and food are today and he doesn't touch either of them (I thought maybe he drinks a lot of water when I leave). I don't know what to do were all in love with him but he's a major pain in the *!$$%# in that sense, my Ma is threatening to kick him out.

Please help!
Patrick

Potty Training
by: Mary

There are many views on potty training so do a little research and decide which one is for you. For what it is worth... here is what we chose:
The crate-training method. We do not feel it is cruel and as a matter of fact our bostons LOVE their crates. Sometimes they just trot right over to their crate and rest for a while (this time the door is left open).

We put them in their crate when we leave the house and close the door. Then as soon as we get back we take them out and go outside. We wait there outside with them and tell them "go potty". We do not go back inside until they have pottied. Of course we know what times of the day they usually "go". That would be in the morning right as they get up and right after they eat and once more right before we go to bed.We do not leave them in their crate for more than four to six hours. It does depend on the age of the dog as to how long you can leave them in there.

With a male...it can be a little harder because marking is different than going pee. We purchased a really good enzyme spray that we use when our male decides it's his property. We scold him if we catch him in the act but mostly we just let him out every hour. He usually "goes" on something out there and we come back in.

There is some information out there on training your male...try Cesar Milan's website for starters.

Our bostons did not get perfectly trained until they were about 2 years old and even then...especially when it rains...they just get stubborn.
