help !!!!

I rescued an adult male (non-fixed) 4 year old Boston around 4 months ago... He is a great dog, but he will poop in the house sometimes, it's usually in the same place ... Right in front of the front door! He wakes me up in the morning to go out... But for what ever reason, he will not tell me during the day (I work from home) and will just go and poop! I need some help and guidance to cure this problem...

Thanks !!!

may not have the words
by: Linda Galway/TurnerME

Your BT may not know how to tell you, during the day, what he needs. BTs are not known to be vocal; I have one that will give a quiet "huff" at the door. The other says NOTHING. Try hanging a bell or a sleigh bell by the door and teach your dog to ring the bell every time there's a duty call. That may give him the words he needs to tell you it's time to go out. I taught my first BT to do this; he made no noises on his own. I would ask him if he needed to go out, kind of get him excited about the prospect, say "Ring the bell!" (at first I rang it for him, then later I picked up his paws to have him make the noise). It didn't take long and he caught on. From then on, he was very reliable. Sounds like your do is going to the door but just not able to figure out how to get your attention when he's in one room and you're in another. Good luck.

Poop Problem
by: Sheila Delaney

He may be doing it for attention or if the scent stays on that spot he may be just going where he smells the scent from before.Make sure when he has an accident that you clean it well and spray some lysol to kill germs and scent.Try taking him out during the day and when he poops outside tell him WHAT A GOOD BOY he is.They love to get praise. They are a lot like 3 year old children.

Pooper

You should probably let him out every hour and especially after he eats. Just watch him for about 10 minutes. Tell him "Go Potty".

Our dogs go twice a day...once in the morning and once at night. They eat twice a day too.
