Has this happen to anyone?

I got my Baxter & I want to show & breed him as a hobby type thing. My 8 year old daughter (who has Down Syndrome) wants to do the same thing & started saving her money to buy her own puppy (of course I helped pay for it). I thought it was a great Mother & daughter thing to do... Sad to say, I think we may have been scr*wed. :( We got Bellah (who we love dearly now) from a breeder who told us that the papers didn't come in yet & that as soon as they do they would mail them to us. Well, 3 weeks later nothing. Not even an email saying they haven't gotten them yet or anything... So, today I got in touch with AKC & they told me she in in the system, but nothing about registering any litters... :( How long does it take to get the litter registeration papers? OMG! It's so depressing, I can't tell Heather that she can't show Bellah (that's her baby). I guess all I can do is start saving again (like I did for Baxter) to get another puppy. I guess I have to stop trusting people, 750.00 down the toilet. But I still love Bellah, she's a good puppy & I wouldn't give her up for the world. Thanks everyone for letting me vent...

AKC Papers

I have heard that AKC is slow. I know it's the best and a must if you are showing but we use CKC and APRI for pets.

Perhaps she is correct in that the papers are coming.

When we register with CKC...you can register the day the pups are born and the papers come in 3 weeks.

Since she IS registered with AKC I believe it is not the breeder that is dragging their feet but perhaps AKC is taking longer. This could be a good thing because it means they are being very diligent.
They have to do research to be sure they get these papers correct. It would be terrible to put a dog in a show just to have someone come up with some kind of proof that would make you disqualify. Give it some more time...but keep on it.

reputable breeders will give you the papers when you purchase the puppy or that has been my experience anyway. Also, here is a tip for a finding a loving caring breeder, I have found ppl that are not just about the money do not charge as much. I have heard of Boston's costing that much and maybe its just a difference in location but I paid half of that for each one of mine. Happy Hunting and Good Luck.
