Hank - our little Boston Spaniel

by Teresa
(Vancouver Island, BC)

Hank is a 3 1/2 month old with a TON of energy!! He is constantly on the go & into everything!! We got him 3 weeks ago & I am finding house training to be frustrating. He is good 85% of the time - but just when yo think you can turn your back for a minute....I find he has peed or pooped somewhere. Also, I cannot wait for the baby teeth to fall out..he bites & chews everything. Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me?

Hank

Sorry, I haven't checked the site in a long time. Funny we were thinking about the other puppies in the litter. We met one of Hanks sisters at Petsmart in Langford while we were going to classes there. Her name is Rosie. We went to Bark n Fitz and the lady there said Rosie and her owners go there a lot. We live in Cobble Hill but go to Thetis Lake quite a bit to let the dogs run off leash. We would love to meet sometime.

Progress report
by: Teresa

Hank is now 5 months old & I am very happy to say that he is now house trained!! We have been to 4 puppy classes & we are learning lots. We walk lots everyday with a golden lab & boxer, so he is used to playing with bigger dogs. We are having a lot of fun with Hank - is is very good entertainment, especially when he gets one of his daily bursts of energy!! He can't stop running!! Up the stairs, round & round the table, up & down the hall, back down the stairs!! It is hilarious & over as fast as it starts. We love him a lot!!

Puppy advice
by: Teresa

Thanks for the advice - I know puppies are a lot of work. We already love him so much & couldn't imagine not having him. We are starting puppy school in a couple of weeks, so I will post our progress.

I have 5 dogs 3 of them are males,I have found that the earlier in life that they are neutered the better for not only the dog but YOU! It will stop a lot of behavior issues as well as potty training problems! I have been there,I feel your pain! Good Luck! Tammy

Hank

That is the cutest Boston Spaniel I have ever seen! Bostons are well know to be a little harder to train so just hang in there. By the time he is 1 or 2 he should be trained. Also, get lots of toys for those chewing impulses. We get some really hard plastic "garage sale" toys. That way when they destroy it in 2 minutes flat you only have lost 25 cents!
