Glucosamine for Luxating Patella

My 2 year old Boston has Luxating Patella in both hind legs. My neighbor recommended something called Liquid Health K-9 Glucosamine that costs $12 and swears by it. My Vet recommended a vitamin called Dasaquin that is $80 for 150 tablets.

Any comments on either of these treatments would be greatly appreciated.
