Flushed Boston Terrier

by Harley's Mom, Saundra Taylor

I just adopted a male Boston Terrier 1 1/2 mos ago. At times he gets real flushed all over his body, especially under his chin, chest and belly. The whites of his eyes look very red. I asked the Vet about this and she said if was probably related to allergies as she had seen this happen with other dogs. Has anyone else encountered this problem with their Boston's?

Flushing
by: Sandi from Wichita, KS

When I asked the vet, she said she had seen it in other dogs and thought it might be allergies too. I've noticed that when he plays real hard with his brothers, his eyes, face, chest, arms and belly look like he's sunburned. At these times, he really feels warm to touch. Also, like you said at times he licks and chews on his feet and belly. It was suggested that I give him an over-the-counter antihistimine, which I would rather not do unless I just have too. At the current time I am using HOMEOPET homeopathic drops for Skin & Itch Relief. It's taken awhile, but I think it's beginning to work because he seems to be having the flushing problem less and it doesn't look at severe as it did. Got my fingers crossed!

Mine too!

I've noticed this as well. Does he chew on his paws? That is usually another sign if its allergies. I recently moved from a stuffy apartment into a more open house and I've noticed that he's been better, his eyes arent as red and his nose isn't as runny. Maybe it could be the dust?

Red eyed BT
by: Bennie

My BT has allergies real bad; poor little guy is allegic to everything. His eyes turn red, his nose runs, he sneezes and sometimes gets a rash on his belly. I give him a very low dose of allergy meds. The vet recommended it. Ask your Vet.
Good Luck
