Will my 5 year old female boston ever bond with our new frenchton puppy?

We have a 5 year old female boston whom is our daughter and world. We thought it would be good if we got a puppy for her to play with since our time is very limited lately so we got a 9 week old male frenchton. Today is day 3 with the new puppy and our female seems to be very put out by us bringing the puppy home and doesn't really want anything to do with him. Will she ever forgive us for getting the new puppy and finally start playing with him?

Thank you so much

Thank you so much for your comments. She is going through her ignoring him stage and rebelling against us a little but after reading your comments I am sure this will pass. Now if we could only get the puppy adjusted to the crate...LOL!

I have the same dog combo!

We love our 2 yr old female Boston, Leyla, sooo much, she was our constant focus of attention. Then we brought home a little Frenchton (frenchie/boston mix) boy, Angus, at 9 wks old. At first, Leyla was apprehensive and curious... then for about a week she totally ignored him. She got over it quick though. Now, it's been almost a year of the two together and they are best friends. Dogs are naturally social creatures, I totally believe it will work itself out in time. Keep an eye on their interactions, correct any bad behavior, and you should have a wonderful, adorable pair of puppy BFFS. Good luck... post PICTURES! ;P

Puppy Love
by: Mary

Most Bostons are very loving and if she sees how much you like the new puppy she most likely will come around. 3 days is not long enough to judge. Give it a couple of months. We got a new puppy and we already had 2 Bostons. One (the 1 year old) took to the new puppy right away and the other (she was 2 1/2 years old) took a couple of months to warm up.
