Female Boston Terrier Biting

by carmen
(florida)

Well, after my beautiful dog of 20 years died my dream was to have a Boston Terrier. She is the love of my life. She is 10 months old, likes to bite all the time - not aggressive, but nips all the time. How can I stop this behavior?

Thank you,
Carmen

She doesn't want to be alone
by: carmen Isavella

Isavella is behaving very strangely. Every time we go out she starts running around the house getting all her toys and gets very upset when she see me getting dressed, I put the TV or the radio on. It's like she can't breathe. What is going on? Is this a normal behavior with a BT? Can someone help with some advice? I am getting worried. Thank you, carmen.

Thank you note to Linda Galway
by: carmen/Isavella

Linda, this is Carmen (Isavella's mom). Just want to say thank you so much for the good advice. As a new BT owner I am just a little afraid to say something to her. After losing my kristy and getting vella, I am putting in much effort to do everything right. She is one year old she is going to start her classes in jan. I was very sick - now is time to correct this behavior. She is doing much better but still hasn't stop the nipping yet,. I really appreciate all the inf. given. I hope to keep in touch with you. Bless your BT. thank you, carmen

nipping
by: Linda Galway/TurnerME

Part of this is just being a puppy; however, you cannot allow it to continue unchecked. Hitting your dog is not acceptable, but you should be able to speak to your pup in a stern voice with "No bite!" As soon as she stops, then praise with "Good Girl, Good no bite." You must try to catch your dog being good, even when she doesn't intend to be, and then praise that behavior. You should probably look for a dog obedience class through local adult education or your local shelter. There you can get your specific issues addressed. I have a photo of one of my BTs surrounded by the inside of a pillow, strewn for 20 feet. They do, mostly, outgrow that, but I still take no chances and pick up any "soft, plush" items and store them in high places.
