Feeding a 5 month old Boston Terrier

Parker is almost 5 months old (next week) and weighs in at over 15 pounds. We tried feeding him science diet and he got horrible diareaha. we swithed him to Blue Buffalo Wilderness for puppies and hes been doing better. The bag says to feed him between 1 1/2 to 3 cups per day. Weve been feeding him about 2 cups a day (over 3 meals). He usually scarfs it down and looks for more food. Should we up him to closer to 3 cups or do you think that is too much? Also i just added some pumpkin (a tsp) to his food today to help his stool harden. Should i give him a tsp every meal and for how long?

Maybe try another food

I would try another dog food. I have two Boston Terrier puppies and we spent a long time feeding them the fancy dry dog food. The problem is that food high in protein causes loose stools in dog breeds like bostons since they are smaller and have sensitive stomachs. We have them on Nutro Natural Choice Small Breed Puppy food which does not give them loose stools and their coats are shiny. Plus the kibbles are small and designed to help clean their teeth. It is an all natural dog food but with not as high of protein as Blue Buffalo. I hope this helps.

Feeding Parker

From the photos he looks to be of an appropriate weight for his size; right now he's going through a time of accelerated growth. I would tend to keep him on the lean side by continuing your regimen; my BTs scarf their food as well and they're adults. One would continue to eat constantly if I didn't rein him in.

He has been on an antibiotic recently, and the vet told me to add plain yogurt to his kibble to avoid soft stools or diarrhea, and it has worked. Both are getting it, and they love it.
