Do Boston terriers need to wear clothes in the winter?

Lucy is a 3 month old puppy and I was wondering if I should buy her a sweater now that it's starting to cool off. It's about 55 degrees now. I just don't want her to overheat and not be able to take her sweater off.

My BT loves it
by: Anonymous

I got my BT when he was 8 weeks old back in OCT 2011. I noticed that he gets really cold and shivers a lot even when I would walk him around in Sunny San Diego. I felt really bad and bought him a couple of shirts to help him regulate his body temp. He stopped shivering. Then the VET advised me to not let him out at the park and play in the grass and dirt as he may get worms. She advised me that if i really wanna socialize my BT to protect his paws from stepping in other dogs poop and mud and suggested I make him wear shoes. So i did. To this date, my BT associates shoes with being walked outside and playing out in the park. He loves it. I even protect his bulging eyes since they are prone to cherry eye by making him wearing shades and he LOVES it. I love and care for my BT and I don't know how I'm gonna react if something bad were to happen to him. Its not just for fashion they obviously have purposes...

Sweaters or coats
by: Anonymous

Our Boston Terrier doesn't mind his clothing at all, he even has a favorite sweater that fits him loosely and doesn't get in the way. We were told when we adopted him from a rescue that because of their short snouts, they have trouble regulating body temperature -this goes for getting too hot or too cold. They recommended him wearing something in the winter and we've found it works well. It might take a little getting used to at first, but once they do, it helps a lot. Our BT (Rigsby) even gets excited when he sees the sweater come out now because he knows it means he gets to go outside.

No sweater for ours
by: Anonymous

Our BT hates wearing a sweater. He seems to tolerate the outside (and likes it) until it gets about 40, then he balks at the door despite wanting to g out. He doesn't want to wear a sweater, so he is learning how to do a quick pee and poo and run back inside.

Yes to coats

If she is able to go outside via doggie door to go pottie then yes you should keep her in a sweatshirt type covering that fits properly. My BT will wear his all day and I take it off before he goes under the bedcovers to sleep.
